As I Lay - A Poem

As I lay on my bedroom floor
in a foreign country
Sunlight streaming in
dancing with silhouettes of leaves
along my arms
Cool wind sneaking in
brushing my skin
complimenting the sun's warmth
My thoughts rushing
screaming, flooding me

As I lay on my bedroom floor
trying to understand
What I did to deserve this
What I did to deserve
to live my dream
I fail every day
I talk a lot
but get lost on the walk
I tell myself to fight
but I'm weak
I tell myself to make time
but push it aside
like an old newspaper

As I lay on my bedroom floor
whispered sweetly to me
Perfection isn't required
my dear one
Just your heart
Lift your head dear one
and feel
Feel my love in the sun
and my strength in the wind
We will do this together
Again
Place your cares and worries
in my hands
and rest your heart

As I lay on my bedroom floor
in a foreign country
Sunlight streaming in
dancing with silhouettes of leaves
along my arms
Cool wind sneaking in
brushing my skin
complimenting the sun's warmth
My thoughts now quiet
as I still
In His embrace
His peace
His presence
